Baking With Yogurt Giveaway

November 16th 079_thumb[5]

Yesterday involved a lot of baking. It’s definitely on the shortlist of things I love to do. First you get to experiment with flavors and ingredients, then you get to eat it—what’s not to love?

November 16th 103_thumb[1]

Baking so much, you pick up lots of little tips and tricks, like how yogurt can replace up to 1/2 the oil in any bread recipe without impacting the flavor or texture. I baked this gingerbread using yogurt(recipe to come tomorrow), and now I’m giving you the chance to bake with yogurt, too.

This makes incredible banana bread, and instead of subbing applesauce, I’m sure you could use yogurt.

I often, when I am feeling ultra lazy and in the mood for chocolate, will mix 1 container of yogurt with just a box of brownie mix and bake it, and it creates really fudgey, dense brownies.

My favorite thing to bake are chocolate ‘cake-like’ things. I’ve been experimenting a lot with bean versions of things, and adding veggies like beets or using avocado instead of butter. Ditto with yogurt. So, I say cake-like because I’m never sure if I’m going to get something fluffy or fudgy, but it’s all good!

Growing up, I was a cake girl. I simply couldn’t fathom how my father, wise as he was, could possibly prefer pie. And now here I am, humbly sitting with the epiphany that my favorite baked good is now just that: pie. Maybe coconut cream. Or berry. Or banana cream. Or pecan. Too hard to choose. But in any case, Dad, I have always respected you, but now I also understand you. 🙂
