7 Obsessions

I signed up to get an account on Pinterest this week but I’m still on the waiting list. I’m pretty sure I could have made an appointment with and seen my old orthodontist by this point. I figured I’ll just share my obsessions here until I get an account.

April 30th 001

Raw desserts. Even better if they contain cocoa powder. Ever since starting a plant-based diet I’ve convinced myself if it’s made of nuts and agave it’s practically health food. Please don’t argue with me; I have nothing to back that up with.

April 27th 020

Chickpeas. It’s not just the curry. I don’t remember the last proper meal that I ate without them. Send help. Or an industrial sized can of chickpeas.

BRITAIN-WEDDING/

The Royal Wedding. I don’t care that it’s over; I still want to talk about it. I’ll watch any television program that talks about it. In fact, I bet 60 Minutes will do a report on it and can’t wait to hear what Andy Rooney has to say. Plus, we still have the Royal Honeymoon, Royal Baby-making, and Royal 401k to track. Oh wait, they’re rich. And British. Scratch that last one.

January 11th 159

Chocolate. Always chocolate.

Capture

Doctor Who. Holy intensity, Batman. I’ve watched one episode so far and this already looks like the best season yet. Except I can only remember half of it—I wonder why? If you ever feel compelled to email me about fictional alien conspiracy theories, please do. That’s what the Contact page is for, after all. Just no spoilers.

Adele. She’s the best thing to come out of the UK since Doctor Who and the Royal Wedding. If you haven’t listened to her 21 album yet, don’t; you’ll never stop.

Kombucha. I know some people are freaked out by this drink but I just love it. It’s probably because I don’t drink alcohol so it’s the closest thing to a buzz I’m getting that’s not a haircut. The long, stringy bacteria thingy(a technical term) is my favorite part.

What do you love lately?

Kombucha looks so freaking good! However, it’s not available at any health food or grocery store near me. 🙁 What’s your favorite flavor in case I ever do track some Kombucha down?

I have never tried Kombucha! I’ve seen it at Whole Foods (obviously), but the price tag scares me away each time. Haha.

I still want those green curry chickpeas – those spices are really appealing to me lately. And I would never argue that your raw desserts are unhealthy – I somehow convince myself that much less healthy things are “not that bad for me” 🙂
I’ve been loving easter candy, sunshine, and the stairmaster lately.

“I’ve convinced myself if it’s made of nuts and agave it’s practically health food. ”
I think most everyone has too…haha!

“The long, stringy bacteria thingy(a technical term) is my favorite part. “–
that is actually yeast die-off, i.e. dead yeast. The scoby, or mother mushroom, is a symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast (SCOBY) and when the bacteria/yeast get done feasting on the sugar that’s in the brewed tea…they ferment the beverage and die off, forming strings. Lovely thought. But I brew at home, so there you go. Now you know what it is.

Does that mean the ones with more stringy things in it are more fermented and therefore more alcoholic? It would make sense then why I like those ones so much

        lol.

I think it means that the more strings there are, the more fermented the beverage has become. More dieoff, more stings, more fermentation. People say not to eat those b/c it’s like eating, well, dead bacteria. But I dont strain my kombucha and also in apple cider vinegar, the bragg’s brand, the strings will be there and i dont strain that either.

Except for the last two, we could be the same person. Oh, and except for the fact that David Tennant is the only Time Lord of my heart.

I want to like Kombucha, I really do. I tried a “Rose” flavoured one, but I just couldn’t dig it. Even tried mixing it with gingerbeer (you can’t taste the rose =( ) but that just led to funky flavoured ..stuff. So now I resort to doing a shot of kombucha followed by a shot of pomegranite juice – I’m not one to eat/drink things that taste naff – regardless how good they are for me. But I reeallly wanted to like it! Ah well. Maybe a different flavour would be better? The floaty stringy bit intrigues me to… though I havn’t had one yet.
My current addiction? Smokey soya beans. Complete accident – dried soy beans take like 3 hours to cook, and I forgot to keep checking on them after the 2nd hour.. so they kinda stuck, and slightly burnt.. I carried on cooking them anyway.. and my goodness am I glad. I’ve been eating them all week! My saucepan now hates me, but I don’t care. It’s worth it =D
