Alton Brown’s Microwave Peanut Butter Fudge

May 15th 095

This recipe is a life-changer.

I’ve long been obsessed with microwave chocolate fudge. I’ve tried making my own peanut butter fudge in the microwave in the past but the texture was never as good as the chocolate version. Finally, when I saw that Alton Brown had a recipe for microwave peanut butter fudge I knew I had to make it.

Alton Brown has to be my favorite Food Network chef, and not just for this recipe. Don’t get me wrong—I love watching Ina and Paula and Giada so that I can make fun of how ridiculous and fattening their “basic” recipes are. But Alton actually writes recipes like he knows what he’s doing, and that’s what makes him fun to cook from.

Overall I stuck to the recipe pretty well. I halved the recipe and the only change that I made was melting the butter only and stirring in the peanut butter until it melted, too.

The fudge came out as an odd, doughy texture that was delicious but not really “fudgy.” I pressed it into a pan and let it sit in the refrigerator until it hardened up a bit and it came to the right consistency.

I wouldn’t leave this at room temperature since it got soft pretty fast. But other than that it was perfect; the taste was very rich and very sweet.

In other words, I need someone to take the rest of this off my hands right away

    Nice!

I remember seeing this a while ago and thinking I GOTTA DO THAT!!

. . . and never did, so thanks for doing it for me 🙂

I bet you can get all creative with different flavor fudge . . . or even different nut butter fudge.

Alton brown is by far my favorite FN chef – his guilt free ceasar salad dressing altered the course of my life!

Yes or that a quick trip to the market for Ina is $200 worth of cheese and fresh flowers. Just on those items 🙂 Love ina, giada, and alton…they all are great.

DIGGING this recipe! Microwave + PB? I am soooo there!

I love Alton Brown! So sad that Good Eats is coming to an end, but I love watching old episodes (almost all of them are on youtube!). This fudge looks amazing.

I love that about Alton Brown. He knows his stuff. I always have hoped to run into him since he does a lot of shopping for his shows in local areas. I have no clue if he even still lives in the Atlanta area though…but I still look.

This looks so, so good!!! I can’t look at the recipe, though, because I have a feeling that it is super easy and then I will be making it all the time. And then my pants will not fit, lol.

I definitely have some takers for this in my immediate circle here (although I don’t use microwaves)–they’d take it off your hands fast too!

I don’t have a tv, so I appreciate these occasional culturally educating excursions you offer!

Is this one of the good parts of eating out the pantry? (I’m a food hoarder too–the only time it ever has a downside is when you move.)

I love PB fudge even more than chocolate fudge. I can’t believe I just said that, but it’s true. There’s no way I could make that and not eat it until I was in a sugar and fat coma.

I admit I’ve eaten an embarrassingly large amount for one person in 48 hours.

That is indeed an awesome recipe! We made it in my nutrition class last semester, and I ate PLENTY for “quality control.”

Great idea to cook it in the microwave. I think it is easier, if the recipe is good. I love how Alton explains the science in his shows.

at the risk of appearing stupid, I don’t see the ingredients. If anybody knows what they are, please pass them along! Always looking for a good gluten free recipe.
